Civic SEWers came about when Julie Kay, from Northbrook, IL had an epiphany about how she could parlay her sewing and organizational skills to become an activist to get out the vote for the upcoming election. The mission of Civic SEWers is to engage creative folks across the country to embroider, paint or applique slogans on the back of jean jackets and shirts to help get out the vote and to spark conversations about civic engagement.
